For yet another year, we participated in the Solidarity Enterprises project, which in 2020 obtained record-breaking levels of involvement and fundraising, making this edition the greatest demonstration of solidarity since the project began 11 years ago.
The project raised 122,000 euros in financial contributions and contributions in kind from more than 100 companies and entities in the province, delivering a total of 1,600 Christmas hampers to 60 social institutions to help families and individuals at risk of exclusion in different locations such as Alicante, Elche, Ibi, Castalla, Pedreguer, Orihuela and Guardamar, among others.
Thanks to the generous donations received, 26% more than in the previous year, we were able to improve the quality of the hampers to include new items such as hygiene products, masks, and disinfectant hand gel.
In the absence of the normal celebrations held in previous years of the participating companies and receiving institutions, the representatives of some beneficiary organizations wanted to express their gratitude through a symbolic image.
Solidarity Enterprises is the brainchild of several Alicante-based companies who decided to join forces in 2010 to help vulnerable families in the run-up to the Christmas holidays. In the past 11 years, the number of participating companies has increased to a hundred. The project has now been extended beyond the Christmas season and continues to operate throughout the year with soup kitchens and donations of necessities to families in difficult situations.
