TM Grupo Inmobiliario, a benchmark holding company in the responsible residential tourism, hotel and holiday industries in Alicante, specialising in the construction and development of second homes along the Mediterranean coast and in the Caribbean, is joining a new project to help protect the Mediterranean Sea and its biodiversity together with Gravity Wave, a social and environmental company dedicated to collecting and reusing plastic from seas and ports, mainly fishing nets.

The aim of this strategic alliance is to rid the Mediterranean Sea of plastic. In addition, both companies’ goal is to collaborate in other sustainable projects throughout this year. In particular, the target both companies have set for 2024 is to remove 3,000 kg of plastic with the help of traditional fishermen, thus contributing to ecosystem conservation. The “Plastic Free Oceans” agreement was drawn up on 21 March in TM Grupo Inmobiliario’s offices, where Ángeles Serna, Chairman of TM Grupo Inmobiliario, and Amaia Rodríguez, CEO and Co-founder of Gravity Wave were in attendance.

Once this plastic has been collected, Gravity Wave will be in charge of recycling it and giving it a new lease of life, transforming it into furniture for companies, decorative items, among other uses. Thus, the shared vision of both companies is to promote a circular economy which is more sustainable and respectful of the environment, reducing plastic generation.

TM Group Inmobiliario promotes a responsible residential tourism model committed to the environment through its Corporate Responsibility Master Plan, consisting of 50 environmental, social and governance commitments. In addition, TM has taken part in other initiatives in order to protect the sea and marine biodiversity. Among these is the Responsible Mediterranean Plan, which includes research, raising awareness and recovery activities across the entire Mediterranean arc until 2025.

In this new project with Gravity Wave, the holding company from Alicante seeks to become a group of companies committed to protecting and cleaning the seas and oceans. Therefore, it supports Gravity Wave’s “Plastic Free Ocean” mission, making reducing the amount of waste found in our seas more of a reality.

This alliance is not only beneficial for the Mediterranean Arc, contributing to conservation of the ecosystem, but it also aims to achieve environmental awareness in society, attempting to combat one of our current challenges, plastic pollution.

As a company that aims to become a reference in sustainable residential tourism, at TM we are firmly committed to protecting the Mediterranean Sea and its biodiversity. Gravity Wave’s project to remove plastic pollution, seeking collaboration from fishermen and recovering nets to create new materials through a circular economy perfectly matches our goal and we are sure that this alliance will be extremely helpful in continuing to take care of the sea we love so much”, stated the Chairman of TM Grupo Inmobiliario, Ángeles Serna.

On the other hand, Amaia Rodríguez, CEO and Co-founder of Gravity Wave highlights that: “It is more and more crucial for companies to recognise the importance of addressing ESG challenges as a key element in their goals, thus contributing to improving the environment that surrounds us. TM Grupo Inmobiliario has joined our mission to jointly remove 3,000 kg of plastic from the Mediterranean Sea and its ports. This evidences TM Grupo Inmobiliario’s commitment to the environment and its willingness to adjust to environmental issues, contributing to the recovery of the Mediterranean Sea. This is just the beginning of a relationship that we hope continues to have a positive impact on our seas and oceans in the long term”.
