Benidorm is the essence of the Mediterranean with more than 300 days of sun each year. Its iconic skyline, recognised throughout the world, its many amusement parks, its wide range of golf courses and its places of interest make Benidorm a unique place. Let's see what activities you can do in this city to make the most of it!

 

Places of interest

Benidorm has a wide range of leisure, culture, and free time activities. There are different shopping areas with a variety of shops, bars, restaurants, ballrooms, discotheques and pubs for all tastes. The historic old town, the English area, Benidorm Palace and the Casino Mediterráneo are among the most symbolic places in the city.

The old town of Benidorm, located on the Punta Canfali and the centre of the fishing village form part of the town centre. There, you can discover the origins of the old fishing village. You’ll wander through the narrow streets of the old town and discover countless bars where you can sample Mediterranean cuisine.

If there is one thing that is characteristic of Benidorm, it is the countless squares in its centre: Plaza Santa Ana, Plaza Castelar, Plaza de la Señoría, Plaza de la Constitución and Plaza del Torrejo. In addition, the Church of St. James and St. Anne is the oldest church in the city.

Amusement parks

Benidorm is known for its amusement parks and family fun. There are five parks for all tastes:

Aqualandia water park. One of the largest water parks in Europe. Europe’s largest capsule slide, Verti-go, the Cyclon ride and the many water rides are designed for all visitors to enjoy.

Terra Mítica amusement park. One of the most famous in Benidorm and the Valencian Community. It has 20 attractions inspired by old Mediterranean civilisations: Egypt, Greece, Rome, Iberia and the Islands.

Terra Natura animal park. This is a zoo with more than 1,500 species, recreating the habitats of continents such as America, Asia and Europe.

Aqua Natura water park. This is a water park with many slides, and bathing areas for children and adults. Great for a family day out.

Mundomar exotic animal park. This park has animals ranging from parrots through to penguins, sea lions and dolphins.

Beaches and coves

Benidorm is known for its beaches with transparent waters and an average annual temperature of 19 degrees all year round. You can swim and enjoy the waters of the Mediterranean Sea at these unmissable beaches:

  • Playa Levante, one of the most fun beaches at more than 2 kilometres long. It is, without a doubt, one of the most renowned beaches in the city.
  • Playa de Poniente, one of the jewels of the Mediterranean stretching for more than 3 kilometres. You can enjoy the sun from sunrise to sunset.
  • Playa Mal Pas, the best kept secret. This small cove, 120 metres long, has a Marine Reserve with a seabed that is perfect for diving, snorkelling and scuba diving enthusiasts.
  • Cala Tío Ximo, the most secluded cove. At the foot of the Sierra Helada, this small 60-metre cove is an idyllic spot for snorkelling.
  • Cala Almadrava, with its calm and clear waters. This cove at the foot of the Sierra Helada, with 100 metres of fine sand and rocks, is perfect for relaxing.

Viewpoints

Sea views are a must on your trip to Benidorm. There are several viewpoints that will leave you speechless and you will fall in love with the characteristic landscape of this city:

Balcón del Mediterráneo viewpoint. Without a doubt, this is the most iconic place in Benidorm. It is also known as the El Castillo viewpoint. On a small rocky peninsula, this viewpoint separates the Poniente beach from the Levante beach and offers unequalled panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea.

La Ermita de La Virgen del Mar viewpoint. This is situated on the Cala de Poniente mountain in Benidorm and is one of the places with the best views of the city and its two main beaches, Poniente and Levante. If you like taking photographs, you will take the best images of the city with your camera from here.

La Cruz viewpoint. At the highest point of the Sierra Helada Natural Park, you will find the best views of Benidorm’s skyline with the Mediterranean Sea in the background. For sunset lovers, this place has one of the best sunsets in town.

Golf courses

Benidorm has a wide range of golf courses to enjoy, whether you are an amateur or a professional. The Las Rejas Golf Course is within urban Benidorm, has 9 holes and is only a few minutes drive from Poniente beach. In addition, there are two other golf courses, designed by Nicklaus Design, located at the Villaitana Wellness Golf & Business Resort. Within half an hour’s drive, there are several golf courses to suit all tastes: Don Cayo Golf Club in Altea Hills, Bonalba Golf Club in Mutxamel and Ifach Golf Club in Benissa.

Sierra Helada Nature Park

The Sierra Helada Natural Park encompasses the municipalities of Benidorm, Alfaz del Pi and Altea. It is named after the microclimate of its cliffs, which is much cooler than normal in this area. There are more than 5,000 hectares of protected coastline with cliffs, fossil dunes and islets, and terrestrial and marine micro-reserves.

Different trails are available: Punta del Cavall trail in Benidorm, the Faro de l’Albir trail, a walk with sea views in Serra Gelada and the Travesía de la Serra Gelada, a trail from l’Albir to Benidorm.
