From the 1st to the 3rd of July we will be swimming in Mallorca for the event “Strokes against Cystic Fibrosis”.

After 21 editions, the Respiralia Group, made up of Balearic Association of Cystic Fibrosis and Respiralia Foundation, organizes this non-competitive aquatic race to raise awareness of Cystic Fibrosis in society and raise funds for the treatment of children and young people who suffer from it.

The event promotes solidarity, equality, inclusion, respect and environmental sustainability through a three-day coexistence in which between 1 and 2 nautical miles (1.8 and 3.6 km) will be crossed by swimming and during three stages.

What is cystic fibrosis?

This genetic and degenerative disease mainly affects the respiratory, digestive and reproductive systems, as well as the sweat glands.

In Spain it can be detected in the first month of life, through the screening test, in which a few drops of blood are extracted and tested from the newborn’s heel to detect the presence of possible congenital diseases.

Organizations such as the Respiralia Group work to improve the quality of life of children and young people who suffer from it, and to make it known among society.
