Beatriz Corredor inaugurated TM Real Estate Group’s latest project, Residencial Amelié, in Murcia

Beatriz Corredor, the Spanish Minister for Housing, inaugurated building work at TM Real Estate Group’s latest project Residencial Amelié, a social housing project in Murcia, Spain.  The project is located on land classified as “Priority Development” and earmarked for the construction of 247 social housing properties in Los Dolores, Murcia, which form part of the Government Plan for Housing and Rehabilitation 2009-2012 for the Province of Murcia.

During the ceremony the Minister for Housing emphasized “the importance of collaboration between local council, regional and government departments so that projects such as Residencial Amelié can be undertaken.”  She also stressed that, thanks to this project, “247 families in Murcia will be able to live in protected and affordable properties”.

Corredor also used the ceremony to confirm that her “Ministry will continue to work with the region of Murcia and with the other autonomous regions to help them complement their housing policies,” while at the same time “continuing to provide the financial support within the available funds, as has been the case until now.”

Speaking on behalf of TM, Construction Director Manuel Fernández-Figares added that “private sector initiatives have been complemented by the government, finally making feasible this excellent residential project within the current housing policies.”  This is reflected in the characteristics of the project which covers “over 22,000 m2, with 70% (15,600 metres) allocated to public services,” added Fernández-Figares.

Sustainable, eco-friendly properties

The remaining 30% is devoted to gardens, parks and communal areas, equivalent to about 7,000 m2.  The project has been designed with a focus on self-sustainability and environmental issues, with features including the planning “in many gardens and green areas we will use native plant species with low water consumption.  We are also going to install a new recycling and water capture system, together with a street lighting system using low energy consumption light bulbs,” explained Fernández-Figares.

Explaining the project in detail, the TM Construction Director also highlighted other key features including that “on a plot of 5,800 m2 we will construct 167 properties which will be able to enjoy a large central square with a swimming pool for both children and adults, a children’s playground and also communal gardens and green areas.”  In closing, Manuel Fernández-Figares also recognised that “speaking about a social housing project does not necessarily have to be at odds with the highest standards in quality and services.”

Finally, during the project presentation, José Ballesta, Minister for Public Works in the Region of Murcia, had a few words of praise for TM “supporting social housing during these difficult and complicated times.”  Ballesta also stated that the project would “give stability to many young couples in Murcia, who can finally see their future a lot clearer and secure once these buildings have been constructed.”
