Arenales Del Sol to house new boating facilities for Easter
22/03/2010
Local beaches will have 20 lifeguards on duty from next Saturday until the 18th April 2010.
Despite the bad weather which marked the bank Holiday weekend, Elche Council are working hard to make sure their beaches are perfect to welcome the 1000s of tourists expected during the Easter Holidays.
This year the area will feature an interesting new attraction – a boat renting service located at the end of the Arenales del Sol beach. Close to this new facility will be a “chiringuito” or beach-side bar and also 6 new foot showers.
Lifeguard services will also start from next Saturday until the 18th April, operating from 11am until 5pm. Lifeguards will then be on duty weekends from the 1st June until the 13th June and from the 13th June onwards operate from 10am until 8pm until the 15th September 2010. From mid-September until the bank holiday weekend in October, lifeguards will only be present on weekends.
For Easter, there will be 20 lifeguards on duty, spread between 5 observation posts and with 4 jetskis also on patrol. Lifeguard stations are also located on the beaches at El Altet, Arenales del Sol, El Carabassí, El Pinet, La Marina and Les Pesqueres-El Rebollo. Three ambulances will also be stationed at El Altet, Arenales del Sol and La Marina. During the peak season, this team will grow to 51 lifeguards.
The beaches around Arenales offer all types of services; 10 kiosks and “chiringuitos” (2 at El Altet, four at Arenales, one at El Carabassí, two at La Marina and one at El Rebollo).
Other improvements include the installation of 21 public toilets with wooden cabins and 125 rubbish bins, of which 70 are new. 8 recycling bins for paper, glass and plastic have also been provided for each beach. There are also over 60 foot showers also installed or repaired for use this year.
Finally, to ensure everything is perfect for the start of the season, 2 teams of 4 people are working hard to clean the beaches and promenades daily. Large machines comb the beaches at El Altet, Arenales, El Carabassí and La Marina daily, while the Council has also acquired two smaller machines to reach even the most difficult corners of the beaches
