Mar de Pulpi. Holiday homes in Almeria.

Congratulations to Juan Amores, the architect whose design will become TM Real Estate Group´s new flag-ship project in Almeria.

Mar de Pulpi, a natural environment of exceptional beauty and climatic conditions, is where TM Real Estate Group is planning to launch an ambitious tourist resort.  The site, located close to San Juan de Terreros, in the Spanish region of Almeria, will be developed over the next few years into a thriving development where harmony with the surroundings, high quality of life and amazing climate are the dominating factors.  A development which will take advantage of local architectural characteristics and traditions while keeping to a spirit of “low impact” to create a seafront garden and promenade to allow enjoyment of the breathtaking views together with luxury services such as a hotel boutique, Spa-Thalasso equipped with the ultimate in health treatment, spacious recreational areas, convention centres and commercial district offering all manner of shops, restaurants and leisure activities.

To bring life to this vision, TM Real Estate Group gave six respected design studios the opportunity to present their vision for the first phase of the project, which will undoubtedly become the architectural stamp and shape the overall character of the development as a whole.

The company highlighted the need for design innovation in a global way, as a spokesman for the company explains:  “More than a year ago, with the sector suffering from a full-blown crisis, we decided that we had to start looking, in addition to high quality coastal locations, for ideas with added value.  Now more than ever it is necessary to create a concept where the architectural design is respectful of the surrounding environment, yet also creates recreational and attractive areas where our clients can enjoy an extensive list of services which improve our developments as centres for relax and enjoyment of the surrounding areas of natural beauty, without loosing comfort or access to basic services.”

Manuel Fdez. – Fígares, Construction Director for TM, praised the high quality of the proposals presented for the competition.  “We are sure that this project is going to be a success.  We asked the candidates to take the architectural styles of the area and give them a modern interpretation, where the natural surroundings can be enjoyed from inside the properties.  We are very satisfied with the high level of the proposals, and especially of the winner.”

The prize went to Juan Amores Romero, with his winning proposal “Azahara”.  “We tried to give the project a feel of the traditional Mediterranean architectural design with its Arabian influences; use of the colour white; soft, curved edges to the buildings and flat balconies and terraces on distinct levels with which we can combine to gain movement to the development.  We envisaged a development with gardened corners, pergolas with handing gardens and colour.  The selection of plants, using olive, orange or almendra trees for colour and also to lend their distinctive aromas to the development and create memories of typical villages of the region, together with Yucas trees, Jazmine and other aromatic plants.”

TM Real Estate Group plan to launch the project in the first quarter of 2010 for delivery before summer 2011.
